This case describes the background of supplying management in NAN Electronics and the challenges it’s facing, introduces how NAN Electronics respond to market challenges by switching to TPP (Third Party Purchasing), Purchasing Management is viewed as strategic part of supplying chain management. It is the fundamental premise of production and marketing activities in a manufacturing firm. Besides, it is the key to the research and development of products (R&D), just in time production (JIT) and on time delivery (OTD), quality control (QC), customer relationship management (CRM) and strategy management. Generally, electronic manufacturing firms, like NAN Electronics, are producing a large variety of nonstandard products, which impose very high cost in supplies purchasing. Firms specialized in TPP are professional in purchasing management, they have a plenty of advanced resources within particular fields. With the help from professional TPP firms, electronic manufacturing firms may significantly reduce the purchasing costs and improve the efficiency of supplying management. This case compares operation performance before and after the establishing a TPP system in NAN Electronics, concludes that that it is feasible to introduce TPP in similar electronic manufacturing enterprises.
